A seafood shipper built around temperature and moisture control

This shipper combines a protective corrugated carton, a fitted expanded-polystyrene body and lid, and a layered moisture-control packout. Sealed primary product bags provide the first barrier; an optional liner bag and absorbent material provide secondary containment for condensate, thaw water or accidental product leakage. The final design can be developed around chilled gel or PCM packs, refrigerante congelado, wet ice where permitted, or a properly managed dry-ice packout.

Layered leak resistance

Sealed primary packs, an optional liner bag and correctly sized absorbent material work together to contain moisture inside the shipper.

Fitted EPS insulation

The close-fitting EPS body and lid reduce open joints around the payload cavity and provide a repeatable thermal envelope.

Chilled and frozen configurations

One product family can be developed for chilled seafood with conditioned gel or PCM packs and for frozen seafood with a suitable frozen refrigerant.

Protection for wet, cargas útiles pesadas

The outer carton grade, EPS density and closure can be selected around seafood weight, stacking and parcel-handling conditions.

Repeatable packing workflow

Defined product, absorbent and coolant positions help warehouse teams reproduce the intended packout from shipment to shipment.

Custom branding and supply

Tempk puede ajustar las dimensiones, aislamiento, formato de línea, carton print and component kits for processors, exportadores, distributors and fulfillment operations.

Cómo planificar el paquete

Definir el perfil de envío

Confirm seafood type, chilled or frozen state, payload dimensions and weight, límites de temperatura, tiempo de tránsito, season and delivery handoff.

Pre-condition the payload and coolant

Chill or freeze the seafood before packing and condition gel, PCM, ice-brick or other refrigerant to the approved packout plan.

Seal the seafood first

Use intact, food-suitable primary bags or trays and verify every seal before loading the insulated cavity.

Install secondary containment

Fit the liner bag without punctures or trapped sharp edges, then add absorbent material in the planned position and quantity.

Load the payload and coolant

Keep the product stable, place refrigerant in the specified positions and prevent harmful direct contact or local freezing.

Close each packaging layer

Close the liner as specified, seat the EPS lid fully and seal or strap the corrugated carton using the defined pattern.

Label and document the shipment

Apply perishable, orientación, temperature or dangerous-goods information required by the product, carrier and route.

Pruebe el paquete completo

Evaluate representative payload, masa refrigerante, exposición ambiental, leakage risk and handling before routine shipping.

Soporte de personalización

Dimensiones internas y externas

Match seafood packs, units per shipment, coolant clearance, courier limits and pallet or warehouse handling.

EPS body and lid

Ajustar el espesor de la pared, densidad de la espuma, ajuste de la tapa, internal ribs and molded cavity around the required payload.

Moisture-control system

Select liner size and closure, absorbent type and capacity, dividers and protective layers for fins, shells or sharp pack edges.

Thermal configuration

Define chilled or frozen conditions, tipo de refrigerante, acondicionamiento, cantidad, placement and separation from the seafood.

Carton strength and print

Specify board grade, tape or strapping closure, brand graphics, packout diagrams and handling marks.

Supply format

Plan samples, pilot quantities, bulk orders and component kits arranged for the buyer's packing line.

Instrucciones de manejo

Store cartons, EPS components, liners and absorbent materials in a clean, área seca. Antes de empacar, inspect the carton and EPS for damage and check every liner for punctures, open seams or contamination.

Pre-chill or pre-freeze the seafood and condition the refrigerant according to the packout plan. Seafood should be sealed in food-suitable primary packaging before it enters the insulated shipper. Install the secondary liner without stretching it across sharp corners, then place the specified absorbent material.

Load the payload and coolant in the defined positions. Keep freeze-sensitive chilled seafood from direct contact with fully frozen packs. If wet ice is used, confirm that the liner, closure and outer package can contain meltwater and that the carrier accepts the method.

Dry ice releases carbon-dioxide gas. A dry-ice packout must not be airtight and requires suitable ventilation, separación de productos, manipulación protectora, calificación, documentation and current carrier acceptance.

Cierre el revestimiento, EPS lid and outer carton consistently. The empty box does not create or guarantee a temperature duration or leak-proof shipment. Validate the complete system with representative seafood, refrigerante, ambient exposure and handling before routine use.

Preguntas frecuentes

What makes this seafood box leak-resistant?

Leak resistance comes from several layers: sealed primary seafood packaging, an intact secondary liner, material absorbente, a fitted EPS container and consistent outer-carton closure. The finished packout should be checked for the expected liquid volume and handling orientation.

Is leak-resistant the same as leak-proof?

No. Leak-resistant describes a design intended to reduce and contain leakage. Actual containment depends on the product bags, liner material and closure, capacidad absorbente, packout quality and handling. A buyer should test the complete packed system before shipment.

What temperature should chilled or frozen seafood use?

Chilled seafood programs are commonly developed around 0–4 °C, while frozen seafood is commonly handled at −18 °C or below. The seafood species, forma del producto, buyer specification and destination rules determine the final limits.

Can I use gel packs, wet ice or dry ice?

Gel or PCM packs are common for clean chilled packouts. Wet ice may be used only when meltwater can be contained and the carrier accepts it. Dry ice is generally used for frozen programs and requires ventilation, separación, calificación, documentation and carrier acceptance.

How long can the box keep seafood cold?

There is no single duration for an empty shipper. Masa de carga útil, temperatura inicial, tipo y cantidad de refrigerante, EPS thickness, ambient exposure and handling all affect performance. Overnight and 24–48-hour lanes are common development starting points, followed by testing.

What EPS wall thickness should I choose?

Many parcel projects begin within a 25–60 mm range. Short chilled routes may use a thinner wall, while long, hot or frozen routes may require thicker insulation and more refrigerant. Tempk selects a starting design after reviewing the shipment profile.

Does seafood touch the EPS or liner directly?

Seafood should normally remain in sealed, food-suitable primary packaging. Where a liner or other component may contact food, the required material declaration should be specified for the destination market.

Can this shipper be used for live seafood?

It is intended primarily for packed chilled or frozen seafood. Live aquatic shipments may need species-specific oxygen, agua, temperatura, containment and carrier arrangements and should be developed as a separate packout.

Can Tempk provide custom sizes and printed cartons?

Sí. Tempk can adjust the usable cavity, EPS wall thickness and density, fuerza del cartón, transatlántico, absorbent system, divisores, coolant layout and printing, subject to tooling and order requirements.

Should the completed seafood packout be tested?

Sí. Test representative seafood, masa refrigerante, condición inicial, perfil ambiental, vibración, gota, compression and leakage risk before routine, long-distance, air-freight or seasonal shipments.
