Temperature target depends on maturity
Hard green fruit and ready-to-eat fruit should not be packed with the same coolant logic.
Avocados Cold Chain
Avocados are not managed like berries. The package must protect carton strength and fruit firmness while avoiding temperature choices that create chilling injury or uncontrolled ripening during longer routes.
Product Risk
The right package has to protect the product’s arrival quality, not only keep the logger cold. The risk points below determine the insulation choice, placement du liquide de refroidissement, pre-cooling requirement, et recevoir des chèques.
Hard green fruit and ready-to-eat fruit should not be packed with the same coolant logic.
Some avocado lanes need moderated cooling rather than near-0 C berry-style handling.
Pressure marks and drops may not be obvious at receiving but show later.
Isolation, liquide de refroidissement, and dividers must support weight without crushing the fruit layer.
Route-Based Recommendation
These are practical starting points for sample planning. Final coolant weight and insulation thickness should be verified with the actual payload, expéditeur, itinéraire, et recevoir la norme.
| Shipment condition | Recommended Tempk package | Starting coolant direction | Emplacement du liquide de refroidissement | Que valider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Firm fruit, short chilled route 12-24h itinéraire, moderate ambient, fruit still hard |
Insulated carton liner or EPS shipper, original avocado carton support, diviseur, and limited free space | À propos 0.3-0.8 kg total conditioned gel packs for a small parcel, selected to temper heat rather than drive the product near freezing. | Side wall placement with thick divider; avoid direct cold contact with the fruit surface. | Arrival temperature, fermeté, skin marking, compression des cartons, and delayed bruising after ripening |
| Ripening-sensitive parcel route 24-48h itinéraire, ambiant 22-30 C, customer expects controlled firmness |
EPP or EPS insulated box, stronger outer carton, diviseur de produits, and route logger | À propos 0.8-1.5 kg total gel packs or a moderated PCM choice for a small parcel. Confirm the target range with the buyer's ripeness specification. | Coolant on perimeter only, separated by corrugated or foam buffer; logger near warm side. | Température de la pulpe, firmness change, cold marks, ecchymoses, et stabilité du carton |
| Hot-weather or long route 30-35 C ambient, 48-72h risk, longer depot exposure |
Thicker EPP/EPS shipper, higher insulation margin, reinforced carton, and reduced headspace | À propos 1.3-2.4 kg total coolant or moderated PCM for a small parcel. Avoid excessive frozen gel if the lane has chilling-injury risk. | Perimeter layout with full fruit-facing buffer; keep coolant weight away from the fruit layer. | Température maximale, lowest pulp temperature, carton crush, ripening shift, and delayed quality check |
Coolant mass is a starting point, pas une garantie. Adjust by product temperature at packing, poids de charge utile, clamshell or carton count, taille de l'expéditeur, matériau isolant, conditionnement du liquide de refroidissement, durée de l'itinéraire, profil ambiant, et recevoir des chèques. More ice can create cold spots, humidité, or pressure damage when the product support is wrong.
Packout Structure
Pour les produits, inner pack control is just as important as insulation. Start with the product condition and pack format, then add coolant and insulation around it.
Processus d'emballage
A stronger shipper helps, but product temperature, pack stability, and coolant separation usually decide whether the delivery is accepted.
Ask whether the shipment should arrive hard, breaker stage, or ready-to-eat. That decides the temperature strategy.
Pour les itinéraires sensibles, choose conditioned gel packs or PCM that reduce heat without cold shocking the product.
Remplir les vides, support carton walls, and avoid coolant top-load on the fruit layer.
Review firmness, skin marks, ecchymoses, and chilling symptoms after receiving and after a short ripening period.
When to Change the Design
Check pre-shipment pulp temperature, route heat exposure, and whether insulation margin is too low.
Raise the coolant set point, increase buffer thickness, or move coolant farther from the fruit.
Improve cushioning, réduire l'espace vide, strengthen cartons, and review drop handling.
