Dairy cold chain packaging

Dairy Cold Chain Packaging Solutions

Dairy shipments need chilled control, but milk, Joghurt, and cheese do not fail in the same way. A useful packout must control route temperature while protecting bottle seals, cup lids, retail cartons, Feuchtigkeitsverhalten, odor separation, and the product condition the receiver can actually inspect.

Chilled route planningLeak and condensation controlNo direct freeze contact

Choose the packout by dairy format

Start with the product shape and the shipment promise. Liquid milk needs upright support and absorbent protection. Yogurt needs cup and lid protection. Cheese needs moisture, Geruch, and texture control. Tempk adjusts insulation, konditioniertes Kühlmittel, Liner, Einsätze, and receiving checks around these differences.

Liquid chilled route

Fresh Pasteurized Milk

Plan for chilled control, upright bottles, cap leakage, Absorptionsleiner, dry labels, and enough coolant without freezing the liquid near pack surfaces.

Cup and texture route

Joghurt

Protect cup lids and stacked trays while controlling condensation, texture risk, and carton strength through warm last-mile routes.

Moisture and odor route

Käse

Use a buffered chilled layout that prevents sweating, Geruchsübertragung, freeze marks, and retail-pack compression.

Typical dairy route choices

Product route Temperaturabsicht Packaging setup Preliminary coolant range Check at receiving
Fresh pasteurized milk parcel or local delivery, 4-24 H Keep the route chilled according to the product requirement; many dairy operations plan around 0-4 C or 2-8 C and avoid freezing. Insulated carton or EPP box, upright bottle divider, Saugfähige Einlage, conditioned gel packs or PCM on side/top positions with a separator. Um 1.0-2.8 kg conditioned gel packs or PCM for a 2-6 L milk payload; increase insulation before adding excessive frozen mass. Produkttemperatur, cap leakage, bottle movement, Trockenheit kennzeichnen, Feuchtigkeit im Karton, and remaining coolant.
Yogurt cups or multipacks, 8-24 H Use a chilled route that prevents warming while avoiding cold contact on cup lids and sidewalls. Insulated carton or compact EPP shipper, Tablettträger, cup-lid buffer, liner for condensation, conditioned coolant placed around the tray. Um 1.2-3.2 kg conditioned gel packs or PCM for 12-24 retail cups, adjusted by ambient profile and carton size. Cup lids, Kartonkompression, Textur, Etikettenbenetzung, minimum temperature, and remaining coolant state.
Cheese blocks, wedges, or retail packs, 12-36 H Chilled handling based on product type; avoid direct freezing and large temperature swings that create sweating. Insulated carton or EPP box, moisture/odor barrier, protected center cavity, conditioned coolant separated from retail packs. Um 1.0-2.8 kg conditioned gel packs or PCM for a 3-8 kg cheese payload; validate for warm lanes or mixed loads. Package dryness, Textur, Geruchsübertragung, carton pressure, logger record if used, and remaining coolant.

These are planning ranges for sampling and quotation. Final coolant mass and shipper size should be tested with the actual product count, Kartonabmessungen, Produkttemperatur, Streckendauer, Umgebungsprofil, und Empfangsvoraussetzung.

How Tempk builds a dairy packout

Pre-chill the product before packing

The parcel should maintain a cold product, not remove heat from warm milk, Joghurt, or cheese. Start from the product’s normal chilled condition.

Separate coolant from the product

Use conditioned gel packs or PCM with a spacer. Direct frozen contact can create local freezing, nasse Etiketten, and package marks even when the average route temperature looks acceptable.

Protect the product format

Milk bottles need upright dividers, yogurt needs cup-lid and stack support, and cheese needs a protected center cavity with moisture and odor control.

Validate temperature and arrival condition

Read the logger with the receiving notes: Leckage, Kartontrockenheit, lid condition, Produkttextur, Geruchsübertragung, package compression, and remaining coolant.

Route validation image

The dairy test curve helps compare chilled parcel behavior for liquid, kultiviert, and solid dairy formats. Für Milchprodukte, the visual arrival condition can be as important as the temperature curve.
