MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL CELEBRATION
Why Mid-Autumn Festival is Celebrated?
Mid-Autumn Festival,is also known as Mooncake Festival, Moon Festival, and Zhongqiu Festival.
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. It is celebrated when the moon is believed to be the biggest and fullest. To the Chinese, Mid-Autumn Festival means family reunion and peace. Mid-Autumn Festival has a history of over 3,000 years, dating back to moon worship in the Shang Dynasty (1600–1046 BC). It’s such an important festival that many stories and legends are widespread, and its origins have been guessed at and explained by generations of Chinese.
How to Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival?
Influenced by Chinese culture, Mid-Autumn Festival is also a traditional festival in some China’s neighboring countries. However, the customs are different in different countries.
Many traditional and meaningful celebrations are held in China. The main traditions include admiring the full moon, offering sacrifice to the moon, lighting lanterns, having dinner with family, and eating mooncakes.
In China, there are many flavors of mooncake, such as Wuren mooncake, red bean mooncake, white lotus mooncake, salted egg yolk mooncake, snow skin mooncake, minced pork mooncake, green tea mooncake, fruits mooncake, flower mooncake, etc.
Among the many mooncakes, snowy mooncake is very special, because it is different from the traditional way of making mooncakes. Other mooncakes are made of syrup, while the snowy mooncake is made of glutinous rice. And it needs to be kept in a refrigerator to prevent aging and cracking of the mooncake skin when it is sold.
In recent years, some companies have begun to make ice cream moon cakes. The filling of ice cream moon cakes is ice cream, which must be stored at a low temperature below zero.
Therefore, cold equipment is particularly important in the transportation and distribution process.
How to Keep Mooncakes Fresh During the Delivery?
It is a good choice to use cold chain packaging, which can effectively prevent mooncakes from melting during transportation, increase transportation distance, and keep fresh taste.
For example:
1. Put ice pack or ice brick inside the gift box.
2.Put the mooncake in a cooler box.
3. You can also put dry ice after unpacking to keep the mooncake fresh and improve the quality of the food at the same time.

Refrigerator has brought great benefits to people’s living life , especially in the scorching summer it is more indispensable. Actually as early as Ming Dynasty , it has become an important summer equipment, and was widely used by the the royal nobles in the capital Beijing. Of course that was not a refrigerator, but a box cooled by natural ice.
At that time, the refrigerator was also called “ice bucket”, made of yellow pear wood or mahogany. The square-shaped box looks exquisite with large mouth and small bottom and two copper hoops on the waist. Copper rings are placed on both sides of the box for handling convenience, four legs under the mud tray(in the Ming and Qing Dynasties furniture, some legs and feet do not directly touch the ground, and another cross wood or wooden frame under the support, this wooden frame is called “mud tray”) to keep away moisture.
The refrigerator is not only beautiful, but also the function design is so sophisticated with science. Inner part of the box is made of tin that can protect the wooden box from eroding and in the bottom of the box, there are holes for ice water seeping through in the bottom. In addition, as the ice melts, it absorbs hot air from the room, it works like our current air conditioner.
Of all the remaining refrigerators, there are only two left in the Palace Museum in Beijing which were donated by Ms. Lu Yi in 1985. This pair of wooden enamelled refrigerators are wire – woven, each box is 102kg in heavy, 45cm in height.Cover surface and box body are full decorated with wrapped branches flowers with exquisite workmanship and gorgeous colors., the mouth along the decorative grain, cover along
The outside has “Made for the Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianlong” It is really the treasure of refrigerator craft.

In fact, the above mentioned wooden refrigerator is not the earliest one in China. The first refrigerators are believed to be bronze ware from the Spring and Autumn Period, called utensils containing ice,i.e.” Bingjian’ in Chinese.
In 1978, two sets of large-scale ice wine sets — Bronze Jian Fou, also known as “Bingjian”, with the same shape and decoration, these two Bingjian were unearthed from the tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng in Suizhou, Hubei Province, and are now separately stored in Hubei Provincial Museum and National Museum of China. So far, this is seen the most exquisite ice wine utensils with the largest and the most complete form pre-qin period. This bronze Jian Fou was acknowledged the oldest “refrigerator” in China. “Ice Kam” is a container used to hold ice and put food in it on hot days.
THREE INTERESTING STORIES ON “KEEPING FRESH”
1.The fresh lichee and yang yuhuan in Tang Dynasty
“Seeing a horse galloping up on the road, the emperor’s concubine smiled happily;no one but her knew the Lichee is coming.”
The well-known two lines comes from the famous poet in Tang dynasty, which describes then emperor’s most beloved concubine named Yang yuhuan and her loved fresh fruit Lichee .
The method of transporting fresh litchi in the Han and Tang Dynasties is as recorded in Historical Annals of Litchi in the Han and Tang Dynasties on “Fresh Lichee Delivery”, together with branches and leaves,a ball of litchi wrapped in wet bamboo paper was put into a big diameter (more than10 cm) bamboo and then sealed with wax. After swift horse running day and night with non-stop from south to the North-west, the Lichee is still so fresh. The 800-li transportation of lychees is probably the earliest cold-chain transportation.
2.The Ming Dynasty–hilsa herring Delivery
It is said that in our Ming and Qing dynasty with capitals in Beijing, the emperors were fond of eating a kind of fish named hilsa herring. The then problem was that the fish was from the Yangtze River, thousands of miles away from Beijing, and in addition, hilsa herring was so delicate and easy to die. How could emperors eat fresh shad in Beijing? The old way of cold chain shipment helps!
According to historical records, “thick pig lard plus ice make a good storage”.In advance, they boiled a large barrel of lard oil, then when it cooled down before solidification, just caught the fresh shad into oil barrel. When lard oil got solidified, it prevented the fish from the outside word, equivalent to the vacuum packaging, so that the fish was still fresh as they arrived in Beijing by swift riding, day and night.
3.The Qing Dynasty–Barrel Planting Lichee
Legend has it that Emperor Yongzheng also loved litchi. In order to curry favor with the emperor, Man Bao, then governor of Fujian and Zhejiang, often sent local specialties to Yongzheng. In order to keep litchi fresh, he came up with a clever idea.
Manbao wrote a letter to Emperor Yongzheng, saying, “Litchi is produced in Fujian Province. Some small trees are planted in barrels. Many people have litchi in their homes, but its taste is no less than that of litchi produced by big trees. These small trees can easily reach Beijing by boat, and the officials who transport them don’t have to work too hard. ……in April, the barrel-planting litchi trees will be immediately shipped to Beijing by boat. A two-month trip in April and May,they can reach the capital by the beginning of June, when lychees are ripe for a taste .”
It was a brilliant idea. Instead of just giving lychees, he sent a tree planted in a barrel that had already produced lychees.
With our better life quality improvement and more convenience of e-business brought, cold chain logistics is playing a key role in our daily life. Now it is reachable to ship fresh fruit and seafood within two days in China.

On December 5,2020, Huizhou Industrial organized all Shanghai employees to carry out the winter hiking activity “One Village in Qingpu”.
This hike came to Qingpu Qingxi Country Park, which is located in the southwest of Qingpu District. As one of the first country parks in Shanghai, Qingxi Country Park is also the only wetland characteristic country park in Shanghai. Qingxi Country Park is a mixture of lakes, beaches, marshes and islands zigzagging around the Dalian Lake in the center.
Because of winter, there are not many people.Breathing fresh air and listening to the sound of nature. While enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way, we walked with laughter.Someone choose to ride a bicycle.Someone choose to walk.
Walking along the way, taking forest as the body, wild as the soul and water as the rhyme. The path takes us to a wood plank walkway that winds through a sunken cypress forest and then around Dalian Lake, the park’s centerpiece.
